Age Does NOT Equal Experience

No matter what you say, age does not define how experienced a person is – I have met many people who are much older than I, but who suck at what they do. And the worst part is they think they’re pretty darn good. It really burns me to hear these people saying that they are smarter or better because they’ve tasted salt first, or they’ve eaten more salt meaning that they’ve lived longer.

I beg to differ – looks like you’ll be dying faster as well because of the amount of salt you’ve consumed. Look, I’ve got nothing against old people – I know I’m going to get there myself, but I just can’t stand it when this happens. Experience does not come from how many years you’ve lived, but instead from how much you’ve accomplished in a short period of time.

Some parents are famous for using their age against their children. They think because they’re older, they’re automatically smarter and because of this stupid style of thinking, they give their children bad and wrong advice – resulting in the children making stupid decisions and being blamed for it. This is what happens when people live in their own little bubbles thinking they know it all.

This is the truth – plain and simple. The more you use your experience, the more effective it will be and the more you will learn. Because you’ll realize like a smart person would, that the more you learn, the more you need to know and the knowledge process never ends.

Cool blog Ernie! When old people think they know the world, they'll be very "banyak muka" and whatever you do, they will say something about it. Being a young and obedient child, of course i'll listen to them. Don't always think that way. Take note..

I am pleased to say my parent never adviced me that way. They always support me behind the scenes. The most importantly, my father is talked less but worked harder person. That is why he is the role model for me.

It's true! Age does not equal experience. The more knowledge that we gain, the more experience we'll have. Sometime, older people cannot accept when younger people lead them. This is because they're ego, feel that they're more experienced than younger people.

Hahahaha... Another great and funny post. I love it!

Yes I agree with you Ernie. And because of too much salt, they also become MORE stupid.

In order for someone to have experience, they have to DO something. Like reading books to get knowledge and not only that, you have to DO something about that knowledge. I believe that knowledge does NOT equal POWER., but...

Knowledge + Action = Power

I don't see any age or salt in that equation.

Yup, age is not a measurement to determine the extend knowledge of a person. If you have the right atitude in continues learning it will help to become better.

I am happy that my parents have never once told me to do things this way or that. It has always been it's your life, so you decide. I think because of that I have learnt so much, and also learnt from the mistakes that I have done. And the best part is, my parents have always been there to 'pick me up' from my lowest points in life, and fed me with support & affection to help me go on with life.

'age does not equal experience' but as a younger person we should take it as our guide to build ourself better. in order to be better person, we should get others opinion but the decision is always in our hand. all people are not born and already be a perfect person itself so that why we must always learn to faced the future. thanks GOD for giving us a brain to think, a leg to walk around, an eyes to see the marvellouse world, a nose to smell our mum cook, an ear to hear something nice and also for giving hands to used in a right ways...

For me the knowledge and experience you have will measure your age. As your real age will do nothing if you don't have what it takes.

When the elder persons told you they have more experiences than you. In order, they want you listen to them without any object.
We always meet this kind of person in the top management of an organization. They want you to respect them, they do not want to learn and they have high ego. They are very offence and they will feel shame if they learn something new from youngers...As a good leader, must always listen to everyone and keep learning, gaining knowledge until the day you are six feet on the ground!

There's this chinese saying that I have always found nonsensical, "I consume salt more than you consume rice". It doesn't sound right no matter how many times I hear it. Elders should never use this to suppress the young.

100% agreed with you Ernie!

In fact parent is telling us, please don't against your relative, they are elder than you, pay more respect. Stupid! They are older, but every single day, without fail, they are making WRONG decision and still proud of it.

We need to speak out whenever we think it is not right, regardless who is the person, how old and blah blah blah...

Speak out our mind!
