Humility Is Sustainable. Arrogance Is Shortlived

I have seen so many rise to the top so quickly & fall even faster to the pits. That’s part of life & business.

What goes up must come down and what is down will eventually go back up. Tough times do not last, tough people do. This shall also pass. This is not what I really want to talk about.

What I do want to share is that when you are rising and if you do want to stay on top or even sustain when times are bad the following are a few lessons that I have learnt the hard way myself.

1. Stay humble no matter how fast you make your pot of gold. Easy come & easy go. There is a reason for this saying. And it’s very true. That’s goes for everything in life. I advice you to work hard for the luxuries of life so that you know how to appreciate and keep it the right way.

2. Know the circle of friends & influence that you want to surround yourself with. Many will come when your pot of gold is in sight & disappear just as fast when you are in the dumpster.

3. Fast cars, branded watches & bags, big bungalows and all that lavish lifestyle postings on social media platforms will inspire the same kind for a very short period of time till the next flavour of the month “inspires” or excites them to drop you like last months outdated Omakase.

4. One of the biggest mistakes I have made and learn over the years is Never make emotional decisions. It always seems like we can until we get into bigger problems. Being courageous is not sufficient. You really have got to have the base experience, solid network that is willing to pay you $, capacity and capabilities to make it.

5. What is courage? No it’s not having the balls to do what others are not willing. Courage is to continue doing time and again even when you continue to face challenges and obstacles especially when you have lost it all.

The hashtag says it all. Humility is sustainable. In order to go far, one has to be humble enough to accept defeat and rise up again. To separate emotional decisions and rational decisions, very much depends on life experience, ups and downs. That's why experience person like you can make a difference .

What a good way to make people understand "Humility is a journey, arrogance is an endpoint".
Humility is indeed a dynamic and ongoing process of self-discovery and improvement, while arrogance implies a stagnant and inflexible attitude that resists further development. Choosing humility as a journey allows for personal and intellectual growth, while arrogance, as an endpoint, can limit one's potential and hinder meaningful connections with others. Good one and I hope, everyone will read this.

Stay humble and stay hustle. That's my principle too. I totally can relate to this words of yours, Mr. Ernie. Why ? Because everything in life has a time limit. Even if you manage to stay on top for your whole life, you will leave the world someday and suddenly you are at the bottom again, alone.

Indeed, Mr. Ernie.

You always said, 'How we do something is how we do everything.' When we stay humble and stay focused on growing the business, that's how we can get closer to success. Second, we have to know our circle of friends and influences well so we can raise our standards to be better.

At first, I didn't believe in all these as I was once a young boy who had a big thought and big ego until I met Mr. Ernie.

Throughout the years with Mr. Ernie, I see a lot of funny, weird, interesting, and meaningful things that happened along the journey. No matter in career, personal, or life. Many interesting real-life case studies that teach me a lot. Of course, Mr. Ernie always concludes it in a very simple and easy to understand manner.

I felt I grew up a lot by experiencing all these things not only in my life but also in seeing these cases happening with my own eyes.

Life lessons can not be learned by just listening. It needs time & experience to feel it. I am glad to have a wise man who always guides me along the journey of my life, and the values are aligned to what I want to learn. Now I have learned the lessons, and I start to see things differently. But it's not surprising that there are still many at my age still struggling with all the above-mentioned. That's life, I am appreciate that I have a great learning journey.

Thank you.

Live to learn or learn to live?

Life is a very interesting story to study. People only will learn when they decided to learn from the mistakes.

Be at the top and stay at the top is a good but able to sustain when times are bad that's something else.

Mentor that willing to teach about life lesson is hard to come by. I am grateful that I have someone - Ernie Chen, my life mentor that I always learn something from him.
