One layer at a time. Together.

This week reminded me that businesses don’t become more profitable simply by working harder.

They become more profitable when every layer of the business works together with purpose.

Over the years, we’ve been intentionally restructuring our business model into three integrated layers.

Layer 1 creates a strong operational foundation.

Layer 2 strengthens our education ecosystem and technology.

Layer 3 focuses on scalable licensing and distribution.

The objective isn’t just to create new revenue streams. It’s to leverage each layer to reduce unnecessary CapEx and OpEx, optimise the platforms we’ve already built, and allow every part of the business to make the other stronger.

That’s how sustainable businesses scale.

But here’s what I’ve learned.

No strategy, no matter how good it is, succeeds without the right people.

Building a great company has never been about filling seats with team members.

It’s about building a team that understands the direction, thinks like owners, embraces accountability, and contributes to moving the company forward together.

Every person has a responsibility beyond their own job scope. Our collective success depends on how well we execute as one team.

This week, I spent time sharing not just what we’re building, but how I think through decisions, why we prioritise certain opportunities, and where we’re heading over the next few years.

When people understand the “why”, they don’t just complete tasks—they make better decisions.

The highlight of the week was seeing the team come together at the franchising expo. It wasn’t just about closing deals. It was about witnessing alignment in action, supporting one another, and turning preparation into meaningful conversations with future partners.

To celebrate a productive week, we took time to recognise the team’s effort. Success isn’t only measured by results; it’s also about appreciating the people who make those results possible.

We’re still early in this journey, but one thing is becoming increasingly clear.

The companies that thrive in the years ahead won’t necessarily be those with the biggest budgets.

They’ll be the ones that build intelligent systems, align great people around a shared vision, and create platforms that scale efficiently and sustainably.

That’s exactly what we’re building.

One layer at a time. Together.

One of the lessons I've learned is that people are the key to turning strategy into results.

No matter how strong a business strategy is, it can only succeed with the right team. Success comes from people who understand the vision, take ownership of their responsibilities, and work together towards a common goal. At the end of the day, great businesses are not built by strategy alone. They are built by great people working together with a shared purpose.

Agree with you Sir, strategy is not good enough but playing an important role to achieve in company's goals are better. We should not focus completing our own task, but understand and ask yourself how to contribute more into overall business. When everyone have the same vision, taking ownership of their responsibilities, the company can grow even further. I believe embracing technology and improving our process will gain us to remain competitive and sustainable growth.

I agree with this. Having the right strategy is important, but it’s the people who bring that strategy to life. When everyone shares the same vision and works together, the results become much more meaningful.

This made me reflect that growth is not only about creating more opportunities, but whether the team and system are ready to support those opportunities.

From my own role, I can see that when people understand the direction clearly, the daily decisions become better. Whether it is handling parents, supporting centres, or following up on business opportunities.

The sharing was a good reminder that alignment is not just something we talk about. It shows through preparation, teamwork and how we represent the company together. Still learning, but this gives me a clearer picture of what sustainable growth really requires.

I'm grateful not only to witness this vision, but to have the opportunity to contribute to building it.

Our responsibility is to build systems that can scale, strengthen our brand, and support every layer of the business. Every campaign, every conversation with parents, and every strategy should contribute to something much bigger than today's results.

The more I understand the company's direction, the more I realise that sustainable growth doesn't come from working harder—it comes from aligning people, building better systems, and making every part of the organisation stronger together.

Thank you, Mr. Ernie.

Spot on. A great strategy only works when the team truly understands the "why."
It’s awesome to see how those three layers connect, but having a team that thinks like owners is the real game-changer. Alignment like that is hard to build and even harder to beat.
Keep up the great momentum!

I believe what Portman as a group has build and is designing is an education business, which institution, technology, infrastructure and people reinforce one another allowing the company to grow without costs increasing at the same rate. Same time allowing others to benefits not as competitor but as the industries growth eco-system.

Leveraging Layers 1 & 2 to drive Layer 3 without blowing up CapEx/OpEx is brilliant strategy. But the real game-changer?
'When people understand the WHY, they don't just complete tasks—they make better decisions.' πŸ’―
Seeing that operational alignment play out live at the franchising expo proves the system works. Turning team members into co-owners of the vision is the ultimate cheat code.
Massive momentum for the entire team! πŸš€πŸ“ˆ

Clearly, timing is so important. It decides the entire journey of our business direction, our next action plan, and our next outcome.

PORTMAN Education Group has evolved to a different level every single stage, every single year, every single second. From selling a college programme and recruiting students to study, to now, selling an infrastructure system that supports the education business, together with the AI-powered education platform we have built. This allows us to scale not just within our community, but beyond the country into the international market.

The target and the vision were set at the earliest stage. With the right alignment of the leader and the team members, and the right execution from the right instruction of the leader, we will get unbelievable results. Anything can happen. Nothing is impossible.
The good thing about education is this: it does not only educate, groom and transform the lives of our customers, our clients, our students. It also transforms and evolves the lives of our stakeholders, our shareholders, our team, and everyone here.

The business has grown to a huge size and consolidated into a fit and focused size, just perfect, and sitting on ginormous possibility through our AI systems and the solid infrastructure of the group.
The direction is set. The methodology has already given us the hint of what needs to be done. The power of communication from the leader, tight execution from the team, and the follow-through process from the group, this is what helps us achieve unbelievable results.

Thank you, everyone, for making sure your part is done right. Keep raising your standards. It is the only way for you to improve, for the group to grow, and for the vision of the organisation to be achieved.
Let's make it happen together, and PORTMAN will be a name known by everyone in the world!

One thing I have learned is that even the best strategy only creates value when it is understood and executed consistently by the people on the ground.

Whether it is communicating with parents, guiding teachers, supporting students, or improving our internal processes, every decision needs to align with the bigger vision. Otherwise, the message becomes diluted and the impact is lost.

Managing change is never easy, especially when you are building something new. But with the right people who believe in the same purpose and are willing to grow together, challenges become opportunities to build something stronger.

A meaningful reflection on what truly drives long-term success. Growth is not only about expansion, but about creating effective systems, strong collaboration, and a team that is aligned with the organisation’s vision. Sustainable progress comes from everyone moving forward together with clarity and shared ownership.
