When Money is a Motivator

Some people say that money shouldn’t motivate a person into getting a job done. There are two things to consider here. Firstly, it can be a good thing because money drives us towards a goal – a positive goal and that’s a good surface driving objective, a motivation of sorts.

However, if you get too greedy and are constantly chasing after it then you should cool your heels and focus on why you want to make so much money in the first place. Remember: too much of a good thing is bad for you. I know what you are thinking – “how can having too much money be a bad thing” or “there’s no such thing as too much money”. Wait. I’ll explain. What happens when too much of something is produced – it becomes a surplus item and loses its value – and there’s no thrill to acquiring it anymore.

Whether you believe it or not, the same is true of money. Sure you need it, and it’s good to have more than you need – but half the fun in getting all this money is the hard work that goes into earning it. When you have too much of it – it become worthless. You think I’m crazy for saying this – but that’s because you probably don’t have too much of it – that’s why you want more. But once you have mountains of it, you’ll see what I’m talking about.

It’s important that you strike a balance for both – this is crucial. If you are in sales, let money drive you to succeed, but don’t let it be your main focus point. Think also of the team and the company and how you can inspire the rest to follow your drive and ambition – now that’s something that’s good to have a lot of.

Money does play a part in giving us motivation in doing something. But for me the satisfaction of helping others would cover that all so, at the end everyone will gain something.

Money makes the world go round... Most everyone wants tons of it but when earned it's temporary. I believe the key here is Money Intelligence. How do you manage and make it grow?

I used to think Money will motivate me to do anything & everything. Until one day, I found that I became greedy & constantly chasing after it. I am not happy, I choose to quit at the end. Because I knew that is not the place for me. However,I appreciated what in my past, because I learnt and be more real toward my life today. When I do sales now, I have bigger picture. Everything is not only for money or myself, but also for the team I work together with. I realized "Money" couldn't buy the achievement. This kind of feeling will following us and drive us to move on in achieve our career.

Money is a huge motivating factor, however, I think people will come to different phases in life where they will be different aspects in their career they will wish to focus on. Money is essential, but after a certain extent, if there is too much greed involved, that person will never be happy, no matter how much money he/she has.

"Money is everything, but without money is nothing.." I love money because I feel like it's something that motivates me to achieve what I want. I can use money to make me & the people that I love feel happy & can buy what we want. However, I learnt that money is not everything. My aunty got higher pay but she's not happy of what she's doing. It's nothing when we have money but we're not happy with what we do. Money does motivate people when it keep people move on, achieve what they desire, as well as it brings joy & satisfaction to the individuals.

It is dangerous when money is a motivator. That's is when robberies happened?!

Well, I'd like to say that our dreams and goals should be our constant motivator.

Be sure of where you want to go [future], and what you want in life.

Everyone has a different motivation factor to motivate ourselve to do/ achieve something. However money should not be a 100% motivator. If not, you will live because of money and you will also die because of money.

Money is the eveil and can cause alot of harm. However, we also need it to survive. Let's just say we must have everything in moderation.

I totally agree with all of your comments. We must also remember what Ernie said to us before, "In this time with what the current situation is now, 'CASH IS KING!'". I believe to get the "KING", I must have the Passion to Exceed the Customers Delight to help them to be more productive to get the "KING" and overcome the situation the world is currently facing.

When i was in my school days my Mom used to give me 50cents and i could buy food and drinks for recess.

Today, after some 11 years out of school you need RM 5 at ;east for a decent meal and drinks for recess.

My point is, we need more money year after year as inflation does hit us. Having lots of money is good provided we know how to safe it and only use what we need for our future emergencies.

13 years ago, with only 30 cents, i was able to buy a nasi lemak and a drink for recess.but now, even a kuih will cost more than 30 cents.for me, money is not everything in life, but everythings need money. that's why in certain situation, money is a good motivator. the principle is still the same, if you have no money, you will hungry.

My point of view:

money is very important when we have nothing and money is the tool to survive. That's why need to work harder to achieve money first then only dreams.

money will not important when we have everything.
