The Truth About Brutal Honesty!

There are some people who don’t like being honest because by being honest, it means they have to get out of their comfort zone. And these people like to feel good about themselves all the time and want other people to think they’re self-sacrificing and would do anything to keep the peace. Please stop being a doormat, start growing a spine/backbone and practice finding your voice so you can start communicating with the others around you and thereby stop living in a cocoon of denial and self-inflicted suffering and stress. That’s the essence of brutal honesty – when you tell it like it is. And you must be able to take as good as you give.

In order to lead, you must first learn to take brutal feedback with a thick face a good attitude. Don’t listen to feedback and then act like you’ve been fatally wounded and must now retreat into a corner and lick your wounds – or get ready to die. You have to see that you are not as ready as you think you are and it’s going to take awhile to get where you need to be. When people are brutally honest, ESPECIALLY those who know you, they obviously know what they’re saying because they see you on a daily basis. So listen and learn.

Truth sometimes can hurt a person, but the most important is that person know what's the things that he/she need to improve on.

A bunch of my close friends gave me a fair dose of brutal honesty back when I first started uni. I was really bitter at first but I manage to see through the dark clouds. They only commented because they cared. If they weren't, they wouldn't even bother wasting their time. These days I treasure them even more because of it.
