3. We tend to celebrate the successful entrepreneurs and aspire to become just like them. Why? Their lives just seems to be the dream we all have. I was just at a bros place for Chor 9 and we were sitting in a huge mansion with a nice pool. No one took pics to post and to show the who’s who and that we were with the rich and famous and everyone just chilled to have a great time chatting, laughing and making fun of the silliest of things. The reality of what you do really see on social media is just that. What people want you to see. The “success” & “happy” life they are living. If you are really successful and living a happy life, just enjoy it. We don’t need to show the whole world unless it’s just a marketing tool for you to attract more followers and agents to follow you to sell what you are selling. Nothing wrong. Just know your objectives.
4. One of the most important things I learnt being an entrepreneur. If you are serious about succeeding, you have got to have a very understanding and supportive better half. Why? It will give you a purpose to overcome all challenges and difficulties as you are not alone on this extremely lonely journey as an entrepreneur. I am now blessed to have Cheryl Lim. Many want to be one not knowing and will never understand what you will have to lose along the way to get what you want. Yes you will lose a whole lot. Lose what? You will find out very soon if you do not know it yet. Well if you are cut out to be an entrepreneur then all these pain and suffering will just complete you more. I hope you have a better half that wants to do better and grow together with aligned values.
5. It will not get easier until it gets a whole lot tougher as an entrepreneur. Why? Everyone would be one and a successful one if it was just so easy. I congratulate all you entrepreneurs that have made it through many tough years especially through COVID and standing strong and continue to want to do more to make that significant difference. I am blessed to be one of them. I am excited as I continue to work on dreams that I have always wanted to achieve and now with a close inner circle of life partner, team, friends and business partners. I am grateful as I complete 20 years of entrepreneurship and move into the most exciting chapter of my entrepreneurial life for the next 20 years in Period 9 starting this year in 2024. Thank you for your continuous support and I look forward to your continuous success. π❤️π₯ #ErnieChen #PORTMAN #Education #College #internationalschool #TrainingAcademy #Edtech #preschool #IPO

As a point of view from the upcoming generation, this is one of the most realistic experience of entrepreneurship. People tend to believe that doing business or being an entrepreneur is a walk in the park where you can just escape the 9-5 job but in reality you need to work 24/7. Your business will basically become your priority where you need to take care of it very carefully because business is all about taking risk. This blog reminds me of the phrase where "What comes easy won't last. What lasts won't come easy". It simply means the hard work and perseverance that you have put made you achieve the 20 years of success and many more to go! Thank you for setting a good example and inspiring us to do more in life. Cheers sir!

It's never easy with success. Most shed lights on the success never on the down side , the pain and agony before succeeding. You are a few that brought light what's like before succeeding and success. Therefore continue this deed, because it's a guiding light to most budding entrepreneurs.

I agree with you, Mr. Ernie. Let's raise our hats to all the tough souls out there and also the unsung heroes who often go unnoticed. Indeed, behind every successful person, there's invariably someone or a dedicated group providing that essential support. It's a reminder that in every victory, there's often sacrifice and perseverance, and in every loss, there's an opportunity to learn and grow. It's the journey of wins and losses that truly shapes us.
Absolutely agreed! Entrepreneurship demands perseverance through challenges, maintaining authenticity, fostering robust connections, and continuously evolving to attain enduring success. ππ»π₯

Entrepreneurship is not just a job but also an opportunity for the individual and company that make the difference. The most common example of entrepreneurship is the ability of a person to create and maintain an income stream that allows the individual to grow as they grow and expand. The more they mature and mature they become more resilient. The more they learn the more mature.
I appreciate the honesty and wisdom shared in this post. Jangan pernah rasa semua benda senang.

Every word you say has a big impact, reminding me that there is room for growth. Even if I feel successful and better enough, there are always people doing even better things than I can imagine. For example like you! That always beyond the expectations on your entreprenuership.
Your words, ideas, and every actions that you take, epitomizes the distinction between an entrepreneur, intrapreneur, and businessman. An entrepreneur embodies an intuitive approach, while an intrapreneur demonstrates a restorative approach and profound dependency. You rightfully earn the title of a great and successful ENTREPRENEUR! Congratulations on your 20 years of entrepreneurship, Mr. Ernieππ»

I completely agree with you, Mr. Ernie, this remark wonderfully conveys the realities and struggles of business while also recognizing the often hidden sacrifices and support networks that exist behind the scenes. It's a refreshing viewpoint amidst the glamorized portrayal of success on social media. Indeed, not everyone is cut out for the entrepreneurial journey, and it's absolutely OK to follow alternate pathways such as intrapreneurship. The emphasis on the value of a supporting partner emphasizes the importance of having a strong support system when navigating the ups and downs of entrepreneurship. It serves as a reminder to enjoy the journey rather than the destination, as well as to prioritize personal fulfilment and value alignment over external approval. Overall, it demonstrates the endurance, devotion, and tenacity needed to succeed in the entrepreneurial world.
Yes indeed! Building something from the ground up is no easy feat. It is like moving a mountain, it demands everything we’ve got.
Success is not just about making money, it's about staying true to ourselves and our values, even when the going gets tougher.
Thank you for leading by example and always being inspiring.
It's true that not everyone is cut out for entrepreneurship, and that's just acceptable. Though the statistics on company failure can be disheartening, it's admirable that you've persisted and created something meaningful. Without a question, your path has sharpened your character and imparted priceless insights. As an intrapreneur, you can, in fact, offer an alternative route to success by utilising a wider platform that fits with personal objectives and strengths. Your story demonstrates the several paths—each with unique benefits and challenges—that one might take to attain success in the corporate world.
Thank you for sharing your wisdom and encouragement. I appreciate your honesty and perspective on entrepreneurship. I'm grateful for the reminder to focus on creating value and enjoying the journey rather than just chasing external validation. Wishing you continued success and fulfillment in your entrepreneurial endeavors. Cheers to the next 20 years of exciting opportunities and growth!
Entrepreneurship is often romanticized, but the truth is, it's a journey filled with thorns.
It requires an immense willingness to embrace failure as part of the learning process.
Success stories don't always capture the struggles and sacrifices behind the scenes. It's about staying true to your vision, continuously learning, and adapting to challenges.
Real success is measured by the impact we create and the lives we touch, not just the superficial image portrayed on social media.
Even if we are not entrepreneurs, there are a lot of things that we can learn and apply from them.
Success is never easy. Many people illustrate the process of success, but rarely the shortcomings, pain, and pain that precede success. Mr. Ernie, You are the one of the few people who has shed light on what it is like before and during success. So, go ahead with this as it can be a guiding light for most budding entrepreneurs.
True. It's inspiring to hear about the challenges and victories you've experienced on your journey. Your honesty about the realities of success and the importance of having a supportive partner really resonates. Thank you for sharing your insight

Congratulations and thank you Mr. Ernie for sharing. Embarking on the entrepreneurial path is undoubtedly tough, and not everyone triumphs in this demanding journey. Kudos to those who persist, as the challenges encountered along the way shape character, distinguishing the resilient from the rest. It's crucial to acknowledge that entrepreneurship isn't for everyone, and that's perfectly fine.
Yes Mr. Ernie.
It's never easy to succeed if we've never failed. Failing is a process of learning.
- Appreciate when someone is there to accompany us along the journey.
- Always bring value to the table so that everyone gains.
- Everyone has to grow in order to make things better and faster.
Thanks! π
Running a business has never been easy. As a 10-year student, apprentice, and mentee of yours, there are still many areas where I need to improve and catch up as an entrepreneur. I don't consider myself an entrepreneur yet. If I were to claim that title today, the business wouldn't last long. Instead, I am positioning myself as an intrapreneur, leveraging the platforms and resources I've built over the years. Despite this, I still have much to learn.
It's never straightforward; success requires multiple elements. Even with a great organization, an exceptional mentor, and self-confidence, factors like family, life partners, friends, and the energy we receive daily play crucial roles.
For me, as long as I'm working toward my goals and not giving up, I believe I'll be ready sooner or later. While I may not possess extraordinary abilities and capabilities now, I have a strong belief in what I'm working on and trust in the people I'm following.
Yes Mr. Ernie, I'm agree. Starting from nothing is tough. Success means sticking to our values, even when it's hard. Thanks for being such an inspiration!

Entrepreneur is not just a simple word that come with 12 letter words. Anyone can claim themselves as an Entrepreneur but not everyone can be a successful one with the real Entrepreneurship mindset & journey.
Truly appreciate what I am going through with you, my life mentor - Ernie Chen to really understand what is real entrepreneurship. Whatever go right or wrong also is the responsibility of the entrepreneur.
Certainly! What Mr Ernie said above absolutely right and true...
Entrepreneurship is a challenging but rewarding journey for those who are dedicated and passionate. The portrayal of success on social media can be deceiving, and having a supportive partner is crucial for overcoming obstacles and finding fulfillment.
Thank you for your guidance and support.
Thanks Mr. Ernie for sharing. Congratulations Boss on 20 years of entrepreneurship! Your dedication, resilience, and hard work have undoubtedly paved the way for your success. Here's to many more years of innovation, growth, and prosperity in your entrepreneurial journey!
Many want to be an entrepreneur because of the rewards that come with it (if it comes)
But not many are willing to sacrifice for it. How funny right?
Entrepreneurship has never been easy and for that I want to extend my congratulations to Mr. Ernie on reaching 20 years in this journey. The journey was not easy, at least I know is NOT for the past 10 years cause i was there and I still am til today. Business always have it ups and downs. Most importantly is how we withstand the downs, celebrate at ups and continue to do GOOD for long term sustainability. However, being able to have the right people around us is also critical. It plays an important role when we needed the support emotionally and physically.
Once again, congratulations to you for reaching 20 years as an Entreprenuer. I am truly happy for you and your family ❤️

Life is really interesting. Sometimes, it seems like everything's easy and smooth for everyone, but it's the tough times and stress that nobody sees. People only notice your success later on.
There are lots of lessons to learn in life. Just keep exploring and figuring out what you really want, because we're responsible for our own lives and the people we care about. Everything happens for a reason.

Mr. Ernie reflect on the challenges and rewards of entrepreneurship, emphasizing the importance of perseverance, learning, and having a supportive partner. Mr. Ernie acknowledges the difficulties faced by entrepreneurs, celebrates their achievements, and advises against comparing oneself to the idealized images on social media. He stress the necessity of a supportive partner and inner circle, expressing gratitude for the journey and looking forward to the future.
Starting a business is not a simple matter; on the contrary, entrepreneurship requires sacrifice, effort, and there's no guarantee of immediate returns. Many people only see the luxurious lifestyle of entrepreneurs, but they fail to see the decades of hard work behind it.
This is a lesson I learned from Mr. Ernie: "Starting is simple, but consistent is difficult!" Every business, from idea to planning, execution, and finally achieving results, is the result of consistent effort and never quit from the challenges.
Thank you Mr. Ernie for the valuable lesson and for imparting more precious experiences and knowledge to me.
