Dr. Mahathir Inspires Me

About two weeks ago, I attended a dinner event hosted by Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad where he spoke about Business Trends for Malaysia Moving Towards 2020. Watching him speak confirmed what I already knew – that this is a man I find truly inspiring. As far as I’m concerned, Dr. Mahathir does not inspire me because he was my PM for over 20 years. I do not find him inspiring just because of his brilliance or that he’s more often than not, right. Neither do I find him inspiring because he is a respected leader.

Dr. Mahathir inspires me because of his tenacity, courage and strength but more importantly because of his interest and desire in wanting to make Malaysia better for Malaysians. He may not always have the right answers and his views have ruffled more than a few feathers in the past. But what makes him such an inspiring icon is the fact that he has continuously and consistently striven to do better for the country. You may disagree, and you may not even like him – some of you may even think he’s a dictator.

Personally, I don’t think that’s too bad because just like every family or organization that needs someone to steer it to a better direction – it’s not uncommon to dislike the person who has to do this dirty job. But remember this – the next time you walk around KLCC and land in KLIA or have people tell you how wonderful this country is – come to terms that it’s because of him that we have the Malaysia that’s on the world map.

Yes, and as Ernie has said before as well, there's only 1 man that can come close to replacing him with the way he talks and leads.. and that's AI.

And i totally agree with that.

Though some of us might not agree with him as a great leader, there's no denying he did make Malaysia known to the world. No one is perfect..he has his flaws but he did try his best to serve the country as prime minister.

马来西亚的左青龙(老马),右白虎(安华);实在是百年难见的奇才!

老马下台后,李某期待安华的东山再起!!!

烈火莫息。。。
