Serving With Your Heart

When was the last time you did something with your entire heart? How many of you sit in your big spacious offices and think that you’re just too good for anyone else? Or what about those of you who think that the tea lady in your office is there to clean up after your mess that you are just to damn lazy to take care of on your own? How many times have you passed by the cleaner in your office, apartment block or even your helper and thought that they are below you? So what if you pay them – it doesn’t give you the right to think that you own them and treat them like they owe you a living.

These people – the newspaper vendor, the man who sells you chicken rice and the lady who makes sure that your block is clean everyday know what it is to serve with their hearts. They do what they do and never expect anything in return, only that you feel good about what they’ve done – for YOU. I am fed up of hearing people grumble about the amount of work they have to do when they should instead be grateful that they are alive to do it. This is especially true of the customer service industry and those in hospitality. Imagine the irony of being in a business which is all about service, but then they suck at it big time because the way some of them answer the phone is as if they are zombies.

Then you have those with such long faces that could rival that of a horse. They walk around with a huge chip on their shoulders moaning and groaning about everything and acting as if the world owes them something. I feel sorry for people like this who will forever live their lives (if you can call it living) being sad, unhappy people focusing on the bad when they can do so much more by serving those they should be serving with every bit of their heart.

Those of you who think you are “great” and want to live in your dream world forever thinking that you should be served, get off your high horse before someone pushes you off it and you fall down in great embarrassment in front of everyone.

Do things with your heart in it.. and you will get results that will simply amaze you. Many people now days do things because they think they are abide to it. Thats the reason most of the outcome is not as expected.
Always remember that the world is like a spinning top.. one day you are up the next minute you can be the one at the bottom..

Oh yes. I was working in a company where there are cleaners doing the cleaning and tidying.

Since I inherited some good values from my previous employment, I started to appreciate what they do for me.

Small little things that make our working environment a better place:

- aim properly before i shoot (pee)
- take initiative to replenish stock while stock count is running low (toilet rolls)
- flush properly and make sure there is no leftover(s).

Not many people will serve others with their heart. they do things because it's their job not their life. For me serve others as how you want to be serve.
